What Is Palmistry?
Palmistry (chiromancy) has been practiced across cultures for millennia. In the Chinese tradition, it sits alongside face reading as one of the two great "observation arts" of character analysis. The palm is examined across three dimensions:

• Lines — Three major lines plus minor lines reveal personality, emotion, career and health
• Mounts — Seven padded areas correspond to seven planetary energies (yes — the same planets as in Western astrology)
• Fingers — Relative finger lengths reveal thinking style and behavioral patterns
Palmistry and face reading complement each other — face reading reveals the innate blueprint; palmistry tracks the evolving story. The best practitioners combine both.
The Three Major Lines

Curves from between the thumb and index finger toward the wrist
Governs: Vitality, energy levels, quality of life

- • Wide arc (sweeping away from thumb) — outgoing, high-energy

- • Ends drooping (toward Moon mount) — imaginative, artistic, pragmatic

Runs horizontally from the outer edge (below pinky) toward the thumb

- • Ends below index finger — loyal, seeks stable partnership
- • Ends below middle finger — feels deeply, dislikes labels
- • Multiple branches — wide social circle, well-liked

💡 Which hand to read? Traditionally: "left hand = innate potential; right hand = lived reality." Modern palmistry uses non-dominant hand for innate traits and dominant hand for how you've actualized them.
The Seven Mounts at a Glance
Mounts are the padded areas of the palm, named after the seven classical planets. A well-developed mount means strong energy in that domain; a flat mount means the area is waiting to be activated:

The Five Fingers
Thumb
Willpower & logic
A long thumb = strong will; a short thumb = action before thought. The top phalanx governs will; the lower phalanx governs logic.

Middle Finger
Responsibility & self-awareness
A long middle finger = duty-bound, introspective; a short one = freedom-loving, resists constraints.
Ring Finger

A long ring finger = artistic gift, values beauty; a short one = prefers logic and order.
Pinky

A long pinky = articulate, business-minded; a short pinky = introverted, avoids social obligation.
What matters isn't absolute finger length but relative proportion — compare each finger to the width of the palm.
