1. Flying Stars Feng Shui
Flying Stars is the time-based layer of feng shui. It divides your home into a 3×3 grid (the nine palaces, like a feng shui ba gua overlay) and assigns a "star number" (1–9) to each sector. These numbers shift every 20 years in what's called a "Period," and also shift annually.
Think of it as a weather map for your home — the basic feng shui layout is the climate, but Flying Stars tells you what's happening right now in each room.

💡 Period 9 (2024–2043) is ruled by the 9 Purple Fire star. Fire-related energies (visibility, technology, celebration) are especially powerful now. The 8 White star that dominated Period 8 is fading.
2. Eight Mansions Feng Shui
Eight Mansions is the direction-based layer. It categorizes people and homes into eight types based on the Kua number (derived from birth year for people, sitting direction for homes). Each type has four auspicious and four inauspicious sectors.

The key application: place your bed, desk and stove in your personal auspicious sectors. Avoid placing important furniture in inauspicious sectors.
3. Combining Both Systems
The most powerful approach combines Flying Stars (time layer) with Eight Mansions (space layer):
Eight Mansions says...
"The South sector is auspicious for you." — This is your permanent directional advantage.
Flying Stars adds...
"But the South has a 2 Black star this year." — This is a temporary challenge that needs remedying.
When both systems agree (auspicious direction + favorable star), that sector is exceptionally powerful. When they disagree, use remedies to suppress the negative star while still benefiting from the directional advantage.
